Café culture is one of Khao Yai’s great pleasures. Thai weekenders drive up from Bangkok as much for the coffee and architecture as for the national park, and the region now has award-winning buildings, serious roasters and cafes built for long views. Here are the cafes and coffee shops worth a stop.

Cafe opening days and hours change frequently, and several close one day a week. Check each cafe’s social media before visiting. We do not publish ratings or prices.

Architecture and design cafes

Yellow Submarine Coffee Tank

Perhaps the most famous cafe building in Khao Yai. Its distinctive design was named a Building of the Year by ArchDaily in 2017. Expect robust specialty coffee with toast, cakes and pies. It has historically closed one day mid-week, so check before you go.

Like A Mountain Khaoyai

A modern white building with glass, greenery and minimalist wood furniture, and water views from indoor and outdoor seats. Its signature “Like A Mountain” coffee is topped with cream shaped into a peak.

Hao Khaoyai

A teahouse-style cafe in a two-storey wooden building more than 50 years old, mixing retro Chinese touches with modern simplicity. Known for its specialty coffee and homemade bread.

  • Castleton Cafe at Mövenpick Resort Khao Yai: a resort cafe convenient for guests and visitors. Official page.
  • Vino Cafe & Wine Bar, Toscana Valley: an Italian-inspired cafe on the town square of the Toscana Valley development, serving Illy coffee.

For coffee lovers

  • Olna x PY Roasters: single-origin beans served in an old European-style house with a shady garden.
  • HOL Cafe & Roastery: a forest-set roastery with a loft-style interior.
  • Within Cafe: a specialty coffee bar in a garden of large stones, with an Italian food menu. It is pet-friendly.

Sweet stops

  • Dairy Home: a farm shop and restaurant known for homemade ice cream, reflecting the area’s dairy heritage.
  • The Chocolate Factory: a chocolate shop and cafe that has offered chocolate workshops.

Planning a cafe hop

  • Go on a weekday to avoid weekend queues and full car parks.
  • Cluster by area. Many cafes sit along Thanarat Road and its side lanes in Mu Si, so pair them with a morning in the national park.
  • Combine with culture. The Khao Yai Art Museum and Primo Piazza make easy add-ons.
